Who can join the partner program?

Anyone who can credibly recommend Shopify apps to merchants — agencies, developers, consultants, YouTubers, bloggers, newsletter writers and community owners. We review applications for programs that need approval, and we may decline anyone whose audience or promotion methods don't fit our guidelines.

Does it cost anything to join?

No. Joining is free and there are no fees, minimums or quotas to stay in the program.

Can I promote more than one app?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each app has its own program, offer and referral link. Join as many as you like from the programs page — one account covers them all.

Question 4

How long does approval take?

Accepted Answer

Programs without an approval step let you start straight away. For the rest, we usually reply within two business days. You'll see the status of every application in your dashboard.

How much can I earn?

It depends on the program. Each one lists its own offer — typically a percentage of every payment a referred store makes, sometimes with an install bounty or sign-up bonus. The exact terms are on each program's page and in your dashboard.

How long do I earn commission on a referral?

Each program states whether commission is paid for a fixed number of months or for as long as the store stays subscribed. That window starts when the store makes its first qualifying payment.

Question 7

What happens if a referred merchant uninstalls or gets a refund?

Accepted Answer

Commission only accrues on payments we actually receive. If a store uninstalls, new commissions stop. Commissions on payments that are later refunded or charged back can be reversed — see the Affiliate Policy for the details.

Can I refer my own store?

Accepted Answer

No. Self-referrals — including stores you or your company own or control — don't earn commission. See the Affiliate Policy.

Question 9

How is a referral tracked?

Accepted Answer

Each partner gets a unique code that is added to the app's listing link (?mref=your-code). When a merchant installs through that link, the install is credited to you. You can also use your short link, which additionally counts clicks in your dashboard.

What if two partners refer the same store?

The first partner to refer a store gets the credit, and the attribution stays with them. Later referrals for the same install are ignored.

Question 11

Why don't I see a referral right away?

Installs are matched to referral links as they sync from Shopify, so there can be a short delay. Commissions then appear as the store's payments clear.

Can I see who I referred?

Accepted Answer

You'll see each referral's date, status and what you've earned from it. To protect merchants' privacy, store names are partially masked.

Question 13

How do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

Payouts are sent to your PayPal account. Add your PayPal email in Settings, then request a payout from the Payouts page once your available balance reaches $50.

Is there a minimum payout?

Yes — the minimum payout is $50. Balances below it roll over until you reach it.

Do I need to provide tax information?

Depending on where you're based we may ask for tax details before paying you. You are responsible for any taxes owed on your earnings.
